Class
of 1946 Mr. Brazelton's long and illustrious career began in 1952 in Korea as a squadron aircraft maintenance officer in the 310th Fighter Bomber Squadron of the United States Air Force. His love of aviation, however, can be traced back to U-High where he was an enthusiastic member of the aviation club. In 1966, LTV Aerospace & Defense Company recruited him to work as a maintainability engineer. He spent the majority of his career designing the maintainability of aviation crafts, including work on the aircraft carriers USS America, USS Kitty Hawk, and the USS Forrestal. Mr.
Brazelton is most proud of the maintainability characteristics built
into the design of the B-2
Stealth Bomber. His
most challenging project took him to Germany and Holland as a
consultant on the European Space Laboratory for the European Space
Agency. This work
resulted in recognition from the Kennedy Space Center in 1997. Even though retired, he stays busy building models and
volunteering with a variety of organizations such as the Mote Marine
Laboratory, the Naval Aviation Museum, and the Florida Children's
Hospital.
