Amy E. Wieting

Update 5/02:

1) In December 2001, I received my MBA in Technology Management from the
University of Phoenix, Santa Teresa, New Mexico campus (3.99 GPA).

2) I am combining a graduation celebration and pre-40 birthday celebration
with a cruise to Alaska.

I was just thinking about the web site the other day and wondering if you
were going to use a "40" motif for the next few months. I really don't feel
like I'm going to be forty. I believe my parents are having a rougher time
about it than I am.

Employer: I am employed by Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems located in Bowling Green, Kentucky. My job position allows me to live and work in El Paso, Texas. I am in charge of the Information Systems in use at our two El Paso facilities (Hartec, Inc. and Sumi-Texas Wire, Inc.). In addition to my work in El Paso, I provide system integration support for our Mexican operations (Juarez, Chihuahua City, and Torreon). I get to "dabble" in software, hardware, and communication issues on a daily basis. I have a staff of one assisting me in these endeavors. It sounds like my schedule can be quite hectic; however, with a proper balance and perspective, it is all manageable.

Occupation: Information Systems Coordinator

Marital Status: Single

Education and Degrees:
BA - Mathematics & Computer Science, Illinois Wesleyan
Currently attending University of Phoenix, MBA / Technology Management

Hobbies and Interests:
After work hours, I am involved in several activities at my church. At the present time, I am serving as choir director for our traditional service and then sing and play guitar for our contemporary service. Music has always been an integral part of my life. Having a chance to musically express God's love has been a very enriching experience.

In line with the church activities, I am also serving as president of the International Lutheran Single Adult organization. We are a Recognized Service Organization within the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. This is a new challenge I accepted in early July. Our primary goal is to provide
Christian support for the single population. We have a web site at www.ilsalcms.org.

Lastly, I am serving as the secretary and newsletter editor of the El Paso Philatelic Society. I have been a stamp collector for thirty years (give or take a few years while in high school and college). I have found stamp collecting to be a very relaxing hobby.

Personal / Professional Achievements:
This past January, I started back to school. I am working on my MBA in Technology Management. Due to Y2K issues last December, I was unable to return to Bloomington for the holidays. I spent a lot of time thinking about the last 20 years (or so). I realized that there were several things that I had wanted to do before turning 40 (yeah, it's not that far off). One of them was to have a Master's degree (the other was to take a cruise - did that during the week of July 4th).

I am able to return to Bloomington three or four times a year. I try to touch base with friends while there, but also spend time getting to know my nephew (he just turned three). Being a long distance aunt is so much fun! You can spoil them without getting the "evil eye" from your sibling

Words of Wisdom: Cherish every day! Remember the faces, sights and sounds!

Favorite memory or song from your days at U High: Too many to list.

How many miles will you travel to this reunion? 1500
