The first is that it’s the only real way for U-High to check your progress. A school development committee compares scores since you first took the Explorer your freshman year, then the PLAN your sophomore year, and finally the PSAE your junior year. From that information, each department looks at what they could do better for the next year. It’s a lot better to waste two days taking tests, then to waste four years pretending to learn. Whatever answer you choose, it almost seems selfish to complain when you consider the number of students who don’t learn the basics like math, reading and writing and then graduate unable to go to college or get a job. |

This year, Holbrook was nominated by Carl Wenning, from the ISU physics department and then selected to receive this award. Holbrook was scheduled to meet with representatives from the National Science Museum, tour the city, go behind the scenes at the Smithsonian, have a banquet with the state department, and even meet President George Bush. |

“It was just something I was doing for fun, but when I had about five songs done I decided ‘hey, why not?’” Blair said. Blair released his first ever self-written, self-recorded, and self-produced techno CD last week under his alter ego “DJ Slair.” The CD features nine original tracks and is titled “Scotty Darko,” which was strongly inspired by the 2001 film “Donnie Darko.” |
Freshman Ryan Rutherford who competed in the 3,200 meter run said it was a hard race to run because of the strong wind and heavy rain. “There was one side of the track where you had to put your head down it was so bad. It was hard to see,” Rutherford said. “You couldn’t really do anything about the weather except try your hardest,” Rutherford said. |

The plot thickens when Hannah asks Tom to be her maid of honor. Tom agrees and performs all the maid of honor traditions, all the while trying to win Hannah’s heart. The rest of the movie continues to be just like “My Best Friend’s Wedding.” It doesn’t try very hard to differentiate itself from other similar wedding movies. In my opinion “Made of Honor” was a nice enjoyable movie, with funny scenes. However, it was nothing new or original. |
All of my life I thought I wanted to fly and that’s it. I never could see myself doing anything else and still can’t. I based my whole life around this. I gave up on playing my love, college football, so I could fly. Now I am stuck in a dilemma with only one week left to change everything around. Seniors always put such pressure on themselves to make a decision about what they want to do with the rest of their lives but why? It can all change in a matter of 30 minutes as I found out. Most people that are 30 to 35 years old still don’t know what they want to do with their lives. |

“Map of the Problematique,” a single from their newest CD, “Black Holes & Revelations,” finished with a heavy, powerful riff taken from Rage Against the Machine’s “Maggie’s Farm,” originally a Bob Dylan song. The editing was phenomenal. Rapid camera angle changes were somewhat disorienting, but not so much that it loses its artistic value. For any aspiring rock musicians: study Muse’s performances. They have wonderful stage presence and use up every inch of the stage, despite the fact that the group is only a trio. |
Aside from a little bit of predictability, many tracks, including “Demon Seed,” “Echoplex,” and “The Four of Us Are Dying,” are very good, and the overall musical strength of Nine Inch Nails really overshadows the weaknesses of the album. While the album isn’t amazing, it’s pretty good and I would recommend it to fans of the band or people interested in rock or industrial music. Even if you’re slightly interested, I would download it and see what you think. I guarantee that your wallet won’t be mad at you. |
