ERCA Community Contribution
Scholarship –
The Educational Research Center of America offers $1,000 scholarships to
students who have made a difference in their community and complete the
application form. Applications
are available on their website,

Counseling
Center.

scholarship.

Acorn
Equality Fund Scholarship – this scholarship is designed to provide academic
financial support for gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender students or the
children of gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender parents.
There are two scholarships, on based upon academic performance and
need; and the other based upon academics, volunteerism, and advocacy.
Scholarships are awarded based upon academic performance and an essay
and range from $1,000 to $4,500.

USA
Funds Access to Education Scholarships – USA Funds awards renewable
scholarships to students with financial need.
Applicants can be those planning on full-time or part-time college
attendance, and who have an annual adjusted gross family income of $35,000
or less. Awards range from $750
to $1500 annually. Additionally,
the organization targets 50% of all scholarships to students with a physical
disability or of a recognized minority group.

Horatio Alger Scholarship – the Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished
Americans seeks to assist students who have demonstrated integrity,
perseverance in overcoming adversity, strength of character, financial need,
a good academic record, commitment to pursure a college education, and a
desire to contribute to society for their scholarship.
Applicants must have a minimum 2.00 GPA, involvement in co-curricular
and community service activities, and an adjusted gross family income of
below $50,000. Students
interested in applying must submit an application online at

Coca-Cola Scholars Program –
Four-year scholarships ranging from $4000 to $20,000 awarded by the
Coca-Cola Company based upon a number of factors, with special emphasis on
character, leadership in school, civic, and other extracurricular
activities, academic achievement, and motivation to serve and succeed in all
endeavors. Paper applications
are no longer available. All
applicants MUST register online at
www.coca-colascholars.org.

Prudential Spirit of Community Award –
the American Association of School Administrators offers this $1,000
scholarship to students who have demonstrated outstanding community service
over the past year.
Additionally, scholarship winners are awarded an all-expense paid trip to
Washington, D.C. U-High can only
nominate one student, however as many as wish may complete an application
and U-High will select one student for nomination.

Ron Brown
Scholar Program – This national program awards scholarships to academically
talented, highly motivated African-American students.
The scholarships are worth $10,000 annually for up to $40,000.
Applicants must excel academically, show exceptional leadership
potential, make an impact on their communities through service to others,
and demonstrate financial need.
An application, essay, and letters of recommendation must be submitted.

Target
All-Around Scholarships –
The Target
Corporation awards several scholarships to students ranging in amount up to
$25,000 based on number of community service volunteer hours, volunteer
leadership awards and honors, appraisal from supervisor, an essay on
volunteer service, and having a minimum 2.00 GPA.

Toyota Community Scholars Program –
Toyota offers renewable scholarships ranging from $10,000 to $20,000.
U-High can only nominate one student.
Applicants must possess an outstanding academic record, be an
effective leader, and have a well-documented record of service both within
and outside the school setting, and have initiated or be actively involved
in a service program addressing a school or community need.
Although the deadline for submission is December 1, students
interested in being nominated need to obtain an application from the
Counseling
Center and return by the
U-High deadline.

Stokes
Educational Scholarship Program – The National Security Agency through this
program will pay tuition and book costs at the college of your choice in
return for your employment at the NSA for a length of 1½ times the length of
study in college. Recipients
will attend school full-time the work during the summer for the NSA in areas
that are related to their course of study.
Applicants must have a minimum 3.00 GPA and 25 ACT score.
Applicants may also choose a full-time major at college in any of the
following areas: Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering,
Languages, or Mathematics.

Golden Apple
Scholars Program – A pre-service teaching program with up to $28,000 in
financial aid for students who plan on teaching as a career.
Recipients must finish their bachelor’s degree, obtain an Illinois teaching certificate and teach for five years in
an Illinois
school of need. Students must be
nominated (see your counselor for information) and selection is based upon
application, academic performance, personal essays, and three letters of
reference. Nominations begin in
March of a student’s JUNIOR year in high school.

SAE Engineering Scholarship Program – The Society of
Automotive Engineers offers scholarships from specific universities ranging
from $400 to full tuition for students intending to earn a degree in
engineering or related science; as well as undesignated scholarships ranging
from $1000 to $10,000.
Applicants should have earned at 3.5 GPA and meet minimum requirements on
the ACT test. Information is

NFIB Young Entrepreneur Award
– The National Federation of
Independent Business offers this $1,000 scholarship to recognize students
who have demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit/initiative, such as starting
his/her own business, participation in organizations such as DECA, Future
Business Leaders of America, Junior Achievement, along others, or through
other initiatives. Applicants
must locate a dues-paying member of the NFIB for nomination following the
completion of application materials and an essay.

Sam Walton
Community Scholarship Program – Wal-Mart Corporation sponsors this program
that awards two $1,000 scholarships from each Wal-Mart or Sam’s Club.
Recipients also are eligible to compete for scholarships up to a
total value of $25,000.
Selection is based upon financial need, academic record ACT Scores,
community/extracurricular involvement, and work experience.
Information regarding student eligibility and application

Gates Millennium Scholars Program –
Funded by a grant from Bill and Melinda Gates, this scholarship is available
to African-American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific
Islander-American, or Hispanic American students who have a minimum GPA of
3.30 and have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in
community service, extracurricular or other activities, and meet Federal
Pell Grant eligibility criteria.
This is a highly competitive process and students are encouraged to submit
their nomination packet as early as possible.

Illinois Chemical Education Foundation Scholarship – The Chemical
Industry Council of Illinois presents a number of $2,000 scholarships each
year to top high school senior science students.
Their objective is to honor students who have exemplified outstanding
achievement in academics, extracurricular/employment activities, and
community involvement.
Application includes letters of recommendation and an essay.

Presented by the
delta Kappa Gamma Society to women who desire to become teachers, rank in

Prospective Educators –
This professional organization presents $500 to $5,000 scholarships to
students planning on a career in education.

IAA
Foundation Scholarships – The IAA Foundation is awarding several
scholarships for students who will major in agriculture, agribusiness, or an
agriculture-related course of study in college.
These scholarships are awarded on the basis of exceptional scholastic
ability and/or financial need.
Applicants must be either a member of the Illinois Farm Bureau, spouse or
the member’s child. There are
six scholarships available to U-High students and they are listed below.
Students may apply for as many as they wish, but are limited to
receiving one. Applications will

– Eight $750 scholarships will be awarded.
Applicant must be a major in agriculture, agribusiness, or an ag-related

Martha J. and Walter J. Wills Scholarship

Applicant’s parents must be Illinois Farm Bureau members who live on and
operate a farm and must attend Southern Illinois University College of
Agriculture majoring in any course except horses, floriculture, or forestry.
William J. Kuhfuss Memorial Scholarship
– One $1.200 scholarship will be awarded.
Applicant must attend a post-secondary institution in the state of Illinois (including
junior colleges and trade schools) and working toward an occupation in an ag-related
field. Preference is given to
students from an agricultural background.
Greg
Carney Scholarship
– One or two $750 minimum scholarships will be awarded.
Applicants must attend the
University
of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign and major in agriculture, be actively involved in
production agriculture in a family farm operation, and be a current or
former 4-H member.
Dale
E. Butz Scholarship
– One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded.
Applicant must have a background in production agriculture that is
majoring in agriculture, agribusiness, or an ag-related field.
The scholarship is awarded on the basis of scholastic ability and
financial need.
Fletcher A. Gourley Scholarship
– Four $1,750 scholarships will be awarded.
Two to children of current patrons (defined as a producer who sells
milk to Prairie Farms Dairy) of the Prairie Farms Dairy and two to children
of current employees of the Prairie Farms Dairy.
The scholarship is awarded on the basis of exceptional scholastic
ability and/or financial need.
Best Buy Scholarship Program –
The Best Buy
Company awards scholarship ranging from $500 to $2,500.
Applicants will initially be evaluated on their level of volunteer
community service over the past four years.
Recipients will be selected by the level of volunteer service, as
well as the student’s academic achievement, work experience, school
activities, statement of goals, and an outside appraisal.
Financial need is not considered.
The first 15,000 applicants will be considered.

Scholarship –
This scholarship,
worth up to $10,000, is offered to students who have lost a parent to breast
cancer and intend to attend a state-supported college or university in

Colonel’s Scholars Program –
KFC offers
scholarships of up to $5,000 per year to students who will enroll in a

Illinois PTA Scholarship –
The Illinois PTA

Achievement Community Scholarship
– this organization offers $2,000 scholarships to students who have
demonstrated outstanding achievement in their activities in school, the
community, or the workplace. An

Illinois
Odd Fellow-Rebekah Scholarship Program – Scholarship awards of $500 and
$1,000 are open to students maintaining at least a 2.00 GPA and
demonstrating financial need.

Illinois Society of Professional Engineers Scholarship –
The Illinois Society of Professional Engineers provides two $1,000 awards
for students pursuing careers in engineering.

The Links Scholarship
– The Central Illinois Chapter of The Links, Inc. offer a $1,000 scholarship
to an Africian-American student planning on attending college.
Applicants must have a minimum 3.00 GPA and reside in the
Bloomington-Normal, Champaign, Springfield or
Charleston
area. A typed application, high
school transcript, and a typed essay must be submitting for consideration.

Illinois Odd Fellow-Rebekah Scholarship Program –
Scholarship awards of $500 and $1,000 are
open to students maintaining at least a 2.00 GPA and demonstrating financial

ACACIA
Leadership Scholarship – This $500 or $250 scholarship is designed to
identify and reward outstanding high school seniors who have demonstrated
their ability to excel in the fields of academics, extra-curricular school
activities, and community involvement.
The scholarship is available to any male who attends either
Iowa State University, the University
of Iowa, or the University of Nebraska.
Letters of recommendation and an essay are required with an
additional personal interview with finalist.
Financial need is not a consideration.

American Chemical Society Scholars Program – This program is designed to
encourage African-American, Hispanic, and Native American students to pursue
undergraduate college degrees in the chemical sciences
ACS will award 100 scholarships ranging from $2,500 to $5,000 per
academic year. Eligible students
must be high academic achievers in chemistry or science, be able to
demonstrate financial need, and intend to pursue a degree in chemistry,
biochemistry, chemical engineering or a chemically-related science.

Illinois AMVETS Scholarship Program – The Illinois AMVETS
provides the following scholarship opportunities, all with

Foundation Scholarship – Four-year scholarship of $1,000 per year for

AMVETS Sad Sacks Nursing Scholarship – One-year scholarship for $500, for
students accepted in a pre-approved nursing program.
Applicants should have a satisfactory academic record, character,

Illinois AMVETS Junior
ROTC Scholarship – Four-year scholarship for $1,000 per year for
participants in a Junior ROTC program, who have taken the ACT or SAT tests.
Preference will be given to the child or grandchild of a veteran
Illinois AMVETS Trade School
Scholarship – Two-year scholarship for $1,000 a year, for students accepted
in a pre-approved trade school program.
Preference will be given to a child or grandchild of a veteran.
No ACT scores are required.
Illinois AMVETS Ladies
Auxiliary Memorial Scholarship – One-year scholarship for $500, for children
or grandchildren of veterans who served after September 15, 1940 and was
Honorably Discharged or who is currently serving in the military.
Applicants must have taken either the ACT or SAT test.
Illinois AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary Worchild
Scholarship –
One-year scholarship for $500, for children of a deceased veteran who
served after September 15, 1940 who was Honorably Discharged.
They need not be killed in action or deceased as a result of a
service-connected disability.
Applicants must have taken either the ACT or SAT test.

Illinois Special
Education Teacher Tuition Waiver Program – The Illinois Student Assistance
Commission awards tuition waiver scholarships to any of the twelve state
universities for students who will major in and agree to teach for a minimum
of two years in Special Education.

Kathryn G. Hansen Scholarship Competition –
The University of Illinois
Secretariat offers a $500 scholarship to
students intending to pursue higher education in the office professional,
secretarial, or business-related fields.
Students will submit an application, an essay, transcript, and two
letters of recommendation.

National
Defense Transportation Association Scholarship – The purpose of this
scholarship is to promote careers in business, transportation logistics, and
physical distribution. Although all
students may apply, preference will be given to students pursuing these and
related courses of study. An essay is
required.

Illinois
Association of County Officials Scholarship –
Four scholarships ranging from $500 to $1,000 will be awarded to graduating
seniors. Applicants must submit
a one-page essay, their transcript, and one letter of recommendation.

Bloomington Elks Physical & Occupational Therapy
Scholarship – The Elks Lodge sponsors up to
$1000 scholarships for students majoring in Physical or Occupational
Therapy. Applicants must have a
minimum B average. Evaluation is
based upon academic qualifications, financial need and personality and
desire. Students must contact

Bloomington
Kiwanis ON TRACK Award – This $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a student who
has faced adversity at home or at school and has overcome that obstacle to
get back “on track” with their lives and remain focused on continuing
education. Students must be
nominated, however there is no restriction on who may nominate a student.
The person making the nomination must write and explanation of how
the student got back on track.
The nominee must reside in Bloomington, Illinois, be in good standing,
submit a recommendation, and write a short essay.

Illinois
Sheriff’s Association Scholarship – The Illinois Sheriff’s Association will
be awarding $500 scholarships to students throughout the state of
Illinois.
Scholarships must be utilized at a State of Illinois institution of
higher learning and students must be enrolled as full-time students.
Applications are returned to the sheriff’s office in the county of
the applicants’ permanent residence.

Kohl’s Kids
Who Care Program – The Kohl’s Kids Who Care Program is an annual opportunity
to recognize and reward students (ages 6 to 18) who volunteer in their
communities. Awards range from
Kohl’s $50 gift cards to $5,000 scholarships toward college.
Nomination forms are available beginning February 1 at any Kohl’s
Department Store or from the Kohl’s website at
www.kohlscorporation.com and can be
returned to any Kohl’s customer service desk.

Bloomington/Normal Girls Softball Association Scholarship – This $600
scholarship is awarded to students who have played softball with the BNGSA
three out of the four years of high school.
An essay is required.

Prairieland Collegiate Cougar Scholarship – Prairieland Elementary School’s
parent-teacher organization will be awarding two scholarships of $1000 each
to graduating seniors who attended Prairieland Elementary
School.
Consideration will be given to students who demonstrate high academic
achievement, have a record of involvement in school and community
activities, and complete the application’s written essay.

Fairview Family PTO Legacy
Scholarship-The Fairview Elementary Family PTO will be awarding two
scholarships of $500 each to graduating seniors who attended Fairview and
plan on furthering his or her education at a college, vocational school, or
technical apprenticeship. Deadline: March

Illinois Heartland Decorative Artists Scholarship – This organization has
established a $1,000 scholarship to an art student who will be attending
college following graduation and be pursuing a career in the fine arts.
Computer and graphic arts are not being considered at this time.
The award will be based on interest, talent, desire, and need.
Applicants must reside within 100 miles of Champaign, IL.

Transportation Club of Bloomington Education Grant Program –
Five awards of $1,000 will be awarded to area students.
Applicant’s parent/grandparent/guardian must be employed in a
transportation related occupation; be involved in school and community
activities; and a high school senior or college freshman.
A one-page essay is also required.
Special consideration will be given to those applicants who will be
attending vocational/technical schools.

Italian
Culture Society Scholarship –
This Bloomington based organization presents scholarships based upon good
academic standing and leadership qualities.
An application, reference/nomination form, cover letter and
supporting information (may be an essay, artwork portfolio, musical audition
tape, or research paper related to Italian culture) are required.

General Assembly Scholarship Program (Brady) –
Students
who will be attending state universities in Illinois may submit applications for the
General Assembly Scholarship program to their local State Representative.
The scholarship is for one year’s tuition and most fees.

Classic Scholarship – Classic Tournament,
Inc. is offering four scholarships to student-athletes ranging from $500 to
$1,000. Student-athletes who
participated in the tournament may apply by completing an application,
submitting an essay, their transcript, and a letter from their basketball
coach verifying that they have or will earn a varsity letter in basketball.

Nevco Scoreboard Scholar-Athlete Scholarship – The
Nevco Company offers scholarships ranging from $500 to $5,000 to
scholar-athletes who excel in the classroom and athletic participation, and
exhibit leadership and community involvement.
A 3.25 minimum GPA and varsity athletic participation are required.
An application, an essay, and tow letters of recommendation are
required.

Swiss
Benevolent Society Scholarship –
This tuition
only scholarship, ranging from $750 to $2,500, is presented to students who
either a Swiss national or of Swiss descent (with documents of proof) who
have a minimum ACT composite score of 26.

CHA/DAI Animal Science Scholarship
– Cha/Dai sponsors an Animal Science Scholarship for residents of Logan,
Mason, Menard, Dewitt, Macon, McLean, and Tazewell counties.
Applicants must write a short essay on why they deserve the
scholarship.

African-Americans based upon their academic achievement, demonstrated
leadership ability through participation in extracurricular activities
and/or community service, and the pursuit of realistic goals.

General Assembly Scholarship Program (Sommer) –
Students who will be attending state universities in Illinois may submit applications for the
General Assembly Scholarship program to their local State Representative.
The scholarship is for one year’s tuition and most fees.
For those living in the 106th Representative District,

Illinois Masonic Scottish Rite Scholarship Fund –
There are eight scholarships offered by the Valley of Bloomington, Ancient
Accepted Scottish Rite, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction listed below.

Illinois
Masonic Healthcare Scholarship – Applicants for this scholarship must plan
to pursue a career in the health care field. Applicants must be residents of
Illinois, and must maintain a "B" average to
continue receiving this scholarship.
Leon M. Abbott Scottish Rite Scholarship –
Leon M.
Abbott Scholarships provide financial support for the continuing education
of young men and women from Scottish Rite families and Masonic-related youth
groups.
Louis L. Williams Memorial Scholarship –
The applicant
must reside in the State of Illinois and
attend Illinois Wesleyan
University.
The Scholarship is for one year only.
The American Passion Play –
Sponsored by
the American Passion Play, this scholarship is awarded yearly based on
financial need, career plans, affiliation with the American Passion Play or
the Valley of Bloomington,
A.A.S.R., and scholarship merit, as evidenced by academic performance.
Sherwood and Evelyn Kriskin Memorial Scholarship –
Applicant may
attend either an Illinois university or one
in a state contiguous to Illinois at either
the undergraduate or graduate level, but must reside in Illinois.
The applicant must maintain a "B" average or better to continue
receiving this scholarship.
Grand Lodge of A.F. & A. M. Illinois Scholarship –
Applicant
must have a blood relative who is a Master Mason in good standing and must
reside in the State of Illinois.
The applicant must have a "B" average.
Applicant will receive the scholarship for one year only but may
re-apply for additional years.
Robert B. Perkins Memorial Scholarship –
Applicant
must have a blood relative who is a Scottish Rite Mason in good standing and
must reside in the State of Illinois.
The scholarship is based on academic standing and the applicant must
maintain a "B" average to continue receiving this scholarship.

Wilson
Scholarship For Graduate Work –
Applicants
must be a graduate student in the health care field relating to children's
medicine and must reside in the State of
Illinois
Illini Club
of McLean County Scholarship –
The Illini Club
will award one scholarship for $1500 to a McLean County
residents enrolling at the University of Illinois.
Criteria used to select students include academic achievement,
extracurricular activities, community involvement, and work experience.
Deadline:
April 15.
NAACP Scholarship –
The Bloomington/Normal branch of the NAACP bases this scholarship upon
scholastic achievement (3.00 minimum GPA), letters of recommendation, and an
essay.
George
Mangiaracina Memorial Scholarship – The
Illinois
Employment and Training Association offers a scholarship of up to $1,000.
Applicants must submit an
application, an essay, be in the top 50% of their class, and attend college
in Illinois. Deadline:
April 1.
Illinois Lumber & Material Dealers
Association Educational Foundation Scholarship –
The ILMDA awards scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,000 to student who
pursue industry-related course work at Illinois colleges and universities.
The scholarships are to assist and encourage students to further
their interest in the lumber and building materials field.
Applicants must have a minimum 2.00 GPA in order to apply.
Deadline:
April 2.
Sigma Phi
Epsilon Balanced Man Scholarship – Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity at the
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign offers three scholarships
totaling $1,750 to male students who will be attending the U of I.
They are offered for students who have excelled in the areas of
scholarship, leadership, athletics, and community service.
Applicants do not have to join the fraternity.

Normal Lions
Club Scholarship –
The Normal Lions
Club offers a $500 scholarship to seniors who reside in the Town of Normal.
Applicants must submit an application, transcript, letter of
recommendation, an essay, and a listing of past, present, and future service
plans.
AMVETS
National Scholarship Program –
AMVETS offers
six four-year scholarships of $4,000 ($1,000 per year) to children and
grandchildren of veterans.
Applicants must have a minimum of a 3.00 GPA, be a child or grandchild of a
veteran who is an AMVETS member, be a US citizen, and demonstrate academic
promise and financial need. Deadline:
April 15.
McLean
County Bar Association Law Day Citizenship Award – The McLean County Bar
Association presents a $500 savings bond to applicants based upon their
community service, academic standing, and involvement in both school and
extracurricular activities including church and charitable organizations.
Excellence
in Agriculture Scholarship – This is an award for a high school senior who
is looking to pursue a career in agriculture at either a two-year or
four-year college or university.
Applicants must have a 2.50 GPA during his/her senior year, accepted to
enrollment at an accredited college, university, or community college within
the State of Illinois by May 15th.
Applicants must have two letters of reference and have the potential
to make a significant contribution to society demonstrated by
extra-curricular activities. Deadline:
April 15.
Accepting
the Challenge of Excellence Award –
The National
Exchange Club of Bloomington provides a $500 scholarship to students who
have made a dramatic change in their attitude and performance sometime
during their high school years.
A.C.E. award winners have overcome a wide array of challenges, including
debilitating diseases, family abandonment, and also the consequences of poor
life style choices. U-High
students wishing to be nominated need to see their counselor and tell their
story.
Alpha Kappa
Alpha Sorority Scholarship Award –
The applicant for this scholarship must be an African-American and reside in
the Bloomington/Normal community.
An application, transcript and an essay are required.

Upakar Scholarship –
The Indo-American
Community Foundation provides this scholarship, ranging from $2,000 to
$5,000 to student of Indian descent based upon financial need and academic
performance. Information is

Healthcare Scholarships –
Scholarships for
designated degrees/certificates are available to BroMenn employees as well
as to external applicants. The
number and types of scholarships offered any given year are determined as a
result of planning and forecasting their position needs.
Scholarships generally range from $1,000 to $4,000.
Applicants who meet the following criteria are considered: 3.20 GPA,
letter of interest, two letters of reference, panel interview, and

Hilda M.
Padgett Scholarship – Criteria for the scholarship are financial need,
academic eligibility, and high moral character, in that order.
With satisfactory progress toward a degree, this scholarship may be
renewable for up to fours years.
An application form and a short essay are required.

Crossroads
Scholarship – The Crossroads Scholarship was established by Dr. John H.
Williams, a U-High Alumnus, as an expression of his gratitude to the
faculty, students, and especially the Class of 1954 of University High School.
The criteria for the scholarship is a GPA in the upper half to upper
quarter (preference will be given to students demonstrating academic
improvement between their freshman and senior years), demonstrates school
spirit, participates in co-curricular activities, and demonstrates financial
need. Applicants should write a
one-page essay addressing the criteria.
Lovelass Scholarship –
This $500 scholarship is given in honor of Dr. and Mrs. Harry D. Lovelass.
Dr. Lovelass served as Principal of University High School from 1949
through 1970. The criteria
includes senior student who has been accepted and enrolled to attend ISU,
3.2 GPA or above, and have demonstrated evidence of leadership and service
while a student at University High School.
Deadline: May 3.
U-High Class of 1987 Scholarship Award –
This award is based upon academic achievement (3.25 GPA and above), school
spirit, leadership, and involvement in extra-curricular activities.
The winner will be selected by a committee of 1987 class sponsors,
present senior class sponsors, Principal, and Junior Class President.
EV Scholarship for
Integrity – This U-High scholarship, funded anonymously, requires staff
nomination. The criteria include
trust, honesty, integrity, and responsibility.
Lucie-Nietzke
Critical Thinking Award –
This U-High
scholarship is not about co-curricular involvement, personality, or
interpersonal relationships. It
is about critical thinking. The
student must demonstrate a questioning spirit and desire for knowledge.
They must not yield to peer pressure during class discussions, but
demonstrate an unyielding commitment to sharing and receiving knowledge in
the best liberal arts tradition.
The student should demonstrate divergent thinking and excel at problem
solving. The student should
question the relevance of ideas and materials.
This award is by teacher nomination only.
Peter Parmantic
Education Scholarship –
The Parmantic Education Scholarship honors Pete Parmantic, a former U-High
English teacher. The criteria
states that the student is seeking a degree in Education, is an independent
thinker, and demonstrates clear communication skills and a desire to learn.
Interested seniors need to write a one-page essay about his/her
interests and qualifications and return the essay to the Counseling Center.
Baker & Borth-Delta
Delta Delta Scholarship –
This $250 scholarship in memory of Brian Baker and Derek Borth and presented
by the Tri-Delta Sorority is presented to students who will attend Illinois
State University, who have been involved in athletics, and have a minimum of
at 3.30 GPA. An application and
essay are required.
Educational
Communications Scholarship –
The ECS Foundation
offers 61 scholarships ranging in value from $1,000 to $6,000.
Primary consideration is based upon GPA and Aptitude Tests Scores
(ACT/SAT) with secondary consideration given to involvement in school or
community athletics or work experience.
There is a $4.00 processing fee required to apply.
Applications are available in the Counseling Center.
Epilepsy
Foundation Scholarship –
The Epilepsy
Foundation of Greater Chicago awards three $1,000 scholarships to students
with epilepsy. An application,
essay, two letter of recommendation, doctor’s statement verifying the
diagnosis of epilepsy or a seizure disorder, personal statement and resume
are required for submission. Deadline:
May 15.
Illinois
Business Education Association Scholarships –
This $500 scholarship is awarded by the IBEA to students who plan to enroll
in a teacher education program with an emphasis in business education in an
Illinois
school that leads to certification in business, marketing, and/or computer
education. An application,
letters of recommendation, and an essay are required.
Deadline:
May 17.
Triangle
Achievement Award – The Gamma Chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon International
Fraternity awards the $500 and $1,000 Triangle Achievement Award to males
who will attend the University of Illinois
at Urbana-Champaign. Applicants
are judged by their academic success in high school, as well as leadership
in extracurricular activities.
Applicants do not have to make any commitment to join the fraternity.

Stevens Memorial Scholarship – The John N. Stevens Memorial Scholarship is
awarded by the Bloomington/Normal Sunrise Rotary Club.
The scholarship pays for 12 credit hours at
Heartland
Community College for two
consecutive semesters. See the

National Image Latino Scholarship Fund – The Central Illinois chapter of
National Image, Inc. provides three $750 scholarships to Central Illinois
Latino students. Applicants must
be at least half Latino, reside in Central Illinois,
and have a minimum 2.00 GPA. An
application form, letters of recommendations, and an essay are required.
Towanda Lions Club Steve Liebenow Memorial
Scholarship – The Towanda Lions Club is
offering this $500 scholarship to students who live in the Towanda area.
Applicants must also have a minimum 2.00 GPA, supply a letter of
application, letters of recommendation, and an essay.
