King Arthur, Bors and Ban returned from battle to Castle Bedegraine.  Meanwhile, eleven kings met to discuss their plot against King Arthur.  It started with just six kings who fought Arthur at Carlion where many common people were killed, but later five new kings joined them.  These kings swore “for weal nor woe, they should not leave other, till they had destroyed Arthur.”

At the gathering each king made an oath.  First was the Duke of Cambenet who vowed to bring five thousand men on horseback.  King Brandegoris was next, vowing to bring another five thousand men on horseback.  Kings Lot, Idres, Cradelmas, Agwisance, Nentres, and Carados all vowed to bring five thousand men on horseback as well. King Clariance vowed three thousand men on foot, the King of the Hundred Knights vowed four thousand men on horseback, and King Urience vowed six thousand more men on horseback.

When the time came to attack, they had fifty thousand men on horses and ten thousand men on foot.  First, they laid siege to Bedegraine, seeing as it was Arthur’s castle.  After that they split up, the kings leaving to find Arthur with many of their men, while some stayed back to follow through with the siege of Bedegraine.
