Ulfius rode to tell
King Uther that he had seen Merlin. King Uther Pendragon demanded the
presence of Merlin. Merlin came to Uther in the place where Ulfius was.
Merlin told King Uther that he knew all his heart’s desire. In exchange for
what Uther wanted, Merlin must be able to get what he wanted. King Uther
agreed to this and swore by the
Four Evangelists. Merlin told King Uther that the night he lay
with Igraine, he will impregnate her with a son, Arthur. The child was then
to be placed in the care of Merlin. In his desire for Igraine, King Uther
agreed without thinking about what he was giving consent.
Merlin
then changed the figure of King Uther into the Duke’s, changed Ulfius into a
knight of the Duke’s,
Sir
Brastias, and then Merlin would be like Sir Jordanus, another knight of the
Duke’s. Merlin told Uther, now the Duke, to say that he was ill and needed
to go to his room and not to leave until Merlin came to get him. The real
Duke of Tintagil decided to lay siege on King Uther because of the outcomes
of the day’s battle. While the real Duke rode to fight, he was killed.
After
the Duke was dead, King Uther lay with Igraine and the words of Merlin came
true for she was going to have a son. In the morning, Merlin came to get
Uther and left, Igraine. After Uther left Igraine found out about the death
of her husband and tried to think of who would dress like him to lay with
her. After she mourned for her husband, Igraine met with Uflius who told her
what had happened. Igraine and King Uther got married to avoid a revolt from
the knights of Uther. There were many other weddings on the request of Uther.
The daughter of Igraine from the Duke, Morgan le Fay, was put into a nunnery
where she learned
necromancy.
After her schooling, Morgan le Fay was married to King Uriens of Gore.
