Arthur told the
King Pellinore, “leave the quest; I will take care of it from
here.” Then, the King Pellinore said to Arthur, “The quest belongs to
nobody but me or my kin.” Then the King Pellinore got onto the king’s
horse, acting like it was his own. Then Arthur made a bet with the knight.
Arthur said, “You can take my horse by force, but I will prove to you that I
am better on horseback than you.” The King Pellinore didn’t take the bet
and rode off. Arthur got annoyed and ordered his knights to fetch his other
horses as fast as they can. Then Merlin appeared, as a 14 year old child,
saluted Arthur, and asked why he was annoyed. The king stated, “I have seen
the most marvelous sight!” “I know, for I know all of your thoughts. You
are a fool for taking offense to King Pellinore riding away. This action
should not offend you.” Merlin stated. Then Merlin told Arthur the truth
about who is real mother and father was;
King Uther Pendragon was his father and Igraine was his mother.
Arthur did not believe him because he was just a child. Merlin left then
returned as an old man; someone who had the presence of being wise.
Then,
Merlin asked Arthur why he looked so sad. “I am stressed about
many things. A 14 year old child told me that my father was Uther Pendragon
and my mother was Igraine,” Arthur said. Merlin announced, “The young child
was correct! Also, God is displeased with you for you had sex with your
sister and conceived a child, whom will later destroy your kingdom and all
of your knights.” “Who are you that you can tell me these things?” Arthur
questioned. Then Merlin told Arthur the truth. “I am Merlin but do not be
scared of me. It is God you should be scared of because of your foul
deeds. However, I may also be punished for I will die a shameful death, and
you shall die a worshipful death.” Then, King Arthur and Merlin rode on
horses to Carlion and asked Ector and Ulfius about Arthur’s real parents.
They both said that Uther Pendragon was his father and Igraine was his
mother. Arthur still needed proof so he sent word to Igraine saying if she
was his real mother, she needed to come to Carlion and speak with him. She
came and also brought Morgan le Fay, and Arthur welcomed them both.
