Merlin told King Arthur
that a child born on May 1st would kill him. In order to protect
himself, Arthur
collected all the children born on May-day and put them on a ship to be
destroyed. The ship crashed into a castle and all the children died except
for Mordred, who was cast
up on the shore. A kind man found him and took care of him until he was
fourteen years old. The man brought Mordred to the courts around the time of
King Arthur’s death. The people blamed Merlin, not Arthur, for the loss of
their children. They were angry, but they did not say anything because they
wanted to keep the peace.
