Sir Percivale & The Temptress

Sir Percivale finds himself betrayed by his own lust for the temptress. For penitence, he prays to God and drives his sword through his thigh. Through his prayer, he asks for God’s forgiveness and calls himself a wretch for almost losing his virginity. He then stops the bleeding with a piece of his shirt.

Sir Percivale then begins to spy the ship of the old man he had seen the day before. The man tells him that the temptress that took him into the woods was the devil in drag. Sir Percivale thinks of himself as a fool, then the man leaves and Sir Percivale takes his boat and leaves the Island of Temptation with his virginity in tact.
