And then the knights stood around the table, all eyes on Balin.  In anger, King Pellam confronted Balin saying “Balin, have you killed your brother?  If so, you must die, or leave this very second!”

Ballin came back at King Pallam by raging “Do it yourself.”

With this comment, King Pallam angrily replied, “Yes, I will kill you! No one else but me can have the honor, for the love of my brother.”  King Pellam grabbed his sword and attempted to strike Balin.  Balin raised his sword to block the blow.  The force of the blow shattered Balin’s sword, leaving him weaponless in battle.

Balin then took off hurriedly to find a weapon.  He raced from one chamber to another; Balin was helpless until he stumbled upon a majestic room full of gold and riches.  His eyes were drawn to a golden spear and in seconds he struck King Pellam with the spear.   King Pellam collapsed to the ground in a faint.  As he did, the castle walls caved in, leaving King Pellam and Ballin trapped under the wreckage for three days.
