The Parmantie Educational Scholarship, in the amount of $100, will be awarded annually to a U-High senior planning to pursue a career in education. Named in honor of Peter Parmantie, retired English teacher of 38 years, this award will be given for the first time in 1998. Students eligible must also go above and beyond what is required in the academic arena, must be an individual thinker, not relying on other sources for ideas of philosophies,and must be able to communicate ideas clearly. These students must also have a desire to never stop learning.
A list of students planning to pursue a degreee with an emphasis in education will be generated by the guidance office. From this list, students may be nominated for the award by a teacher. No peer, administrator, parent, or coach nominations shall be accepted. In their nominations, teachers should state how the student exemplifies the criteria listed. A committee will decide the recipient. If you plan to pursue a career in education (any field, not just English), notify the guidance office prior to April 1st.
