Bloomington Public Library

BPL has a local history collection and has the only complete index of the Pantagraph going back to the 1850s.  If you decide to visit BPL, stop at the reference desk and ask for help using their collection and finding what you need.

Hours: Mon-Thu 9am-9pm | Fri-Sat 9am-5pm | Sun 1pm-5pm


 

The McLean County Museum of History

Students do not have to pay admission to visit the museum.  If you decide to visit for this project, stop at the front desk and explain why you are there & tell them you want to visit their library.  In the library, ask for the box for University High School.

The box contains some information on the history of UHigh, various alumni newsletters, some play & theater programs from the 1960s, graduation programs, and homecoming info.  Photocopies are .20 per page.

  What Does UHigh's Library Have?

A Reminder

Please remember that the archival resources in the library are old and fragile.  In most cases, these are the only copies of these resources, so please be careful when using them  Due to their fragility, these resources cannot be checked out.

For help locating these resources, please see your teachers or Ms Beaman in the library.

Clarion Yearbooks - the UHigh library has yearbooks going back to the early 1900s.  Books will be made available to you in your classes or in the library.  Yearbooks cannot leave the room where you are working.

Scrapbooks and Clippings - The library  has several scrapbooks and loose newspaper clippings from the 1940s, 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.  These materials contain information on UHigh athletics and extracurricular activities.  A few scrapbooks from the late 1970s contain information on the school's faculty & administrators.  Scrapbooks & clippings cannot leave the room where you are working.  Students using these resources will need the patience to sort through a number resources that are only loosely organized.

North Central Association Reports - these reports contain evaluations of the school from its accrediting association.  Reports are available for 1992, 1985, 1978, and 1971 and include evaluation of the building, the school & school community, the schools services (guidance office, library, etc.) and each academic area.

Photographs - The library has a collection of photographs from many occasions.  The photos are organized by topic and can be scanned or photocopied.

Books - the library has a collection of books that will help research background information on some topics.  For topics like girls's sports (Title IX), fashion, trends & culture, etc. see Ms Beaman for addiational resources.
