Buy your Candy Grams from the U-High Key Club this Friday (2/10) and next Monday (2/13) in the Lounge during lunch and after school. Create your own personal message, and add a touch of sweetness with either a Hershey Bar or some Fun Dip. We'll even hand deliver them for you during class on Valentine's Day! For only $1 a piece, you can send valentines to your significant other, your friends, and even your favorite teacher. Proceeds will go to the March of Dimes. Thanks for your support!

The Normal Rotary Club
is granting a $1,000 scholarship to 1 senior student from U-High. To qualify, you must meet the following criteria: The student shows evidence of initiative in their personal life; The student must demonstrate their involvement in service, citizenship, leadership and activities; The student does not have to be an academic scholar, but instead should be in the1/2 of their graduating class as determined by the principal or designee; and The student must be planning to go on to college/university or trade school.

The American Cancer Society IL Division
is offering an integrated Summer Research program designed for Class of 2013 students. The program objective is to introduce students to scientific cancer research. This program will help students develop their own philosophy in biophysics, biochemistry, immunology, and pharmacology, as well as gain an understanding of cancer and its impact on IL residents. Students must demonstrate strong ability in math and science, be interested in pursuing a career in science or medicine, have a min. GPA of 3.0 in core subjects, be a US citizen and have an outstanding attendance record. See Counseling for more info.

A local chapter of the Society of Decorative Painters, has established 2 scholarships ($1,000 and $500) to be awarded to 2 art students who will graduate in 2012 and then attend college. The PTO of Prairieland Elementary School in Unit 5 (P.I.E.C.E.-People involved in Expanding Children's Education) will award 2 annual scholarships of $1000 to assist 2 graduating McLean County seniors in furthering his or her education after high school. Consideration will be given to students who demonstrate high academic achievement, have a record of involvement in school and community activities, and complete the application's written essay. Students who are interested in the Health Care industry are invited to attend The 10th Annual OSF Healthcare System Educational Career Fair. The goal of the fair is to provide students an opportunity to learn about careers in the healthcare field through personal interaction and demonstration. Summer Jobs for High School Students -
Bloomington Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts is now accepting applications for Summer positions at the HR Office at City Hall, 109 E. Olive. You can pick up an app. from HR or download it at www.cityblm.org. Almost 1/2 of the summer jobs are with the pools. The min. requirement for aquatic positions is having passed the Red Cross Lifeguarding class or comparable training. If individuals are not certified, Lifeguarding classes are offered this spring at the YMCA and during the summer at one of the aquatic facilities. Students are encouraged to plan now for summer employment. Apply by March 15, 2012.
