Classroom Materials: Notebook for notes and papers, pencils, pens, paper, scientific calculator with exponential and log functions
Technology Skills: You are required to activate your ISU account.  You will be using the internet to gain access to assignments and updated grades.  You must have access to your network resources.  By the end of the first week of school you must have your password set and must be able to log on to the system. 

Grading

OBJECTIVELY:
TESTS: given after each chapter; questions based on subject content and understanding
QUIZZES: given periodically - usually with advance notice (not always)
LAB REPORTS: based on observations and scientific method ; graded on completeness and accuracy of data
HOMEWORK: given for each chapter; problems will supplement classroom activities - it is important to do all of the assigned problems to the best of your ability
Other materials may be assigned where necessary and checked for satisfactory completion within a given time - projects, written reports, computer materials, etc...The use of only black or blue ink or pencil will be accepted for assignments  Do not use red or colored (except blue or black) ink/pencil for any assignment.
SUBJECTIVELY: You will be evaluated daily on: class participation, attitude, punctuality, and discipline.

Your grade =

(total points earned / total points available)x 100
90% = A 80% = B 70% = C 60% = D Below 60% = Failing
I reserve the right to curve grades at the end of the quarter or semester if I feel that it is necessary. Individual tests and quizzes are not curved.  Grades will be posted on ed-line.  If a student has a question about their grade, they should contact me as soon as possible.

 Cheating: Cheating in any form will not be tolerated in this class. If I suspect cheating, I will take appropriate measures to squelch this activity. Any student caught cheating or copying will be penalized on the first offence by a zero on the test, quiz or assignment. For a second offense during a semester, the penalty will include a zero on the assignment, a phone call or letter to parents and referral to the Principal for disciplinary action. After a third offense during a semester, the student will be removed permanently from class with a failing grade. A student that knowingly allows another student to copy a test, quiz or assignment will be awarded the same penalty as the student who copied. All assigned work must be completed individually. No copies of any assignments will be accepted.

Attendance: All work missed while absent is to be made up after you return to class according to the number of days absent. Any preassigned work is due on the day you return - including tests. It is the student's responsibility to get the assignments they missed. If the absence is school related, and the student has reported to school that day, any assignments that are due must be turned in on that day.

Unexcused absences: No work except tests may be made up after an unexcused absence.

Late assignments: Only assignments turned in on the due date will be considered for full credit (unless for an excused absence). Some assignments will be accepted the following day with a penalty. This will vary depending on each assignment's turn over time. Therefore, the student should ask if the assignment will be accepted for a late penalty if they want to hand the work in for credit.

Make-up work:  Tests and quizzes will be made-up as soon as you return to school and at a mutually convenient time.  Labs will be made up from 3:15 to 4:15 or by appointment.  It is your responsibility to make arrangements to make up any and all work.

Discipline: Any student disrupting class will be isolated from the class for that class period. the student will still be responsible for the material covered in class and any assignments for that day.

You are expected to observe safety regulations in the laboratory. Good housekeeping is expected. Lab benches must be wiped clean at the end of a laboratory period.
