SS301 Philosophical Foundations of American Democracy

This course concentrates on the foundations of American Democracy through the study of major philosophical works taken from Ancient Greece and Rome, the Renaissance, the Enlightenment, and the American Revolution and Constitutional Period. Writings from authors ranging from Aristotle to Machiavelli to John Adams will be used to help students understand the foundations of political theory and American government in order to better prepare them for a life of republican citizenship.
