Steps on How to Build a Pond or Water Garden
Step 1:
Dig a hole about 13-15" deep, however wide. Save excavated dirt for later.
Step 2:
Reinforce sides of the pond with roofing flashing and PVC stakes.
Step 3:
Smooth surface of the bottom and sides of the pond, cover exposed surfaces with roofing felt.
Step 4:
Spread liner across the pond hole, fill it with water.
Step 5:
When almost full, place layer of decorative bricks or stones around edges.
Step 6:
As water rises, add more layers. Make sure it is above ground level and so you can't see any roofing felt.
Step 7:
Begin landscaping. Rake dirt around pond, plant plants and vegetation around pond, add waterfall if you desire, add fish to the pond, whatever you want!
