Flowering trees add variety and color to existing landscapes. They draw attention to the eye with their brightly colored flowers, luscious fruits, changing leaves, or uniquely colored summer foliage. They can also be functional by providing shade and by softening strong lines of homes. 

How do they Respond to the  Environment?

 Flowering trees are greatly influenced by duration or intensity of sunlight.  Most trees are adapted to full sunlight and perform better away from large buildings or trees that cast dense shade during all or most of the day.             

   Few trees tolerate wet or heavy soils, or vary sandy
   or gravely soils that tend to remain too dry.
   However, most trees respond favorably to deep
   topsoil with good internal drainage.
