On-Line Safety |
|
Never give out personal information on-line without your parents' permission.
This includes your full name, address, and the school that you attend.
Always be careful when filling out questionnaires that ask for this kind of information and check with your parents before filling them out.
Never give your picture or anything else of this nature to somebody on-line
without asking for your parents' permission.
Do not respond to strange e-mail.
If you receive an e-mail that makes you feel uncomfortable or offended, tell your parents or teacher immediately.
It is not your fault that you received this kind of e-mail, but you should do something about it immediately.
When writing e-mail or creating websites, be sure to use appropriate language and include appropriate content.
In other words, do not create stuff that is going to offend or hurt the feelings of someone else.
Remember, your e-mail and other network resources can always be examined by the network administrator.
Avoid inappropriate web-sites.
If you find yourself in an Internet site that you find offensive, BACK out immediately.
A site that uses language or contains content that you, your classmates, your parents, or your teachers find offensive should be considered inappropriate to you.
Never agree to get together with someone you
"meet" on-line without first checking with your parents. If your
parents agree to the meeting, be sure that it is in a public place and bring
your mother or father along.
Talk with your parents so that you can set up rules for going on-line and decide upon the time of day that you can be on-line, the length of time you can be on-line, and appropriate areas that you can visit. Do not access other areas or break these rules without your parents' permission.
