Acronyms

Acronyms can be used to abbreviate commonly used expressions when possible.  They are commonly seen in Internet chat rooms, but are also sometimes used in e-mail messages.  It should be remembered that messages that are filled with acronyms can be confusing and annoying to the reader.  Overall, acronyms ordinarily used for conversational purposes should be confined primarily to informal communications.
