What you need to be aware of
regarding software at the lab
schools
-
At
the lab schools, we never own
any computer program. We only
own a license to use that
program.
-
Every copy of every program on
every computer must have a
purchased license.
-
A
license can consist of any of
the following: a cd-rom,
installation diskettes, a
purchase receipt for the
software, a certificate
-
All
licenses should be turned into
the technology office so that
records for all building
software can be maintained
-
Illinois State University, and
the lab schools, currently have
a site license for Microsoft
Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel,
Access), Publisher and
FrontPage. This means that these
programs can be installed on any
university computer.
-
Employees may install the
Microsoft programs listed above
onto one home computer.
Things you should not do:
-
Install any of your personal
software from home on an office
computer. Once you do this the
software becomes the property of
ISU, and appropriate licenses
need to be turned in.
-
Install any piece of software
onto more than one computer,
unless you have purchased a copy
of that software for each
computer. Illegally copying or
using software can result in
revocation of the privilege to
access information resources and
may also include the following:
suspension, termination, civil
and/or criminal prosecution, and
other disciplinary action,
pursuant to all rules and
regulations of Illinois State
University and State and Federal
Laws.
